Trello
Trello is a cloud-based, kanban-style work management and collaboration tool developed by Atlassian. Work is organized into Workspaces, boards, lists, and cards, which can hold details such as descriptions, checklists, attachments, labels, due dates, and comments. This structure makes Trello suitable for everything from simple personal to-do lists to lightweight project management for teams.
Beyond the standard board view, Trello’s Premium and Enterprise plans add multiple visual perspectives, including Timeline, Calendar, Table, Dashboard, Map, and Workspace-level views. These views let teams see work as a schedule, a spreadsheet-like list, or a high-level dashboard without duplicating cards. Cards can be broken down into smaller checklist items (advanced checklists allow assignees and due dates), customized with custom fields, and organized using labels and filters.
Trello includes built-in no-code automation (Butler) on all plans, allowing users to define rules, scheduled jobs, due-date triggers, and card or board buttons to automate repetitive actions and send notifications. Power-Ups and integrations connect Trello with tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, and many time tracking or reporting add-ons. While Trello does not provide native time tracking or full resource management, add-ons can extend boards with those capabilities when needed.
Atlassian Intelligence (AI) is available on Premium and Enterprise plans, adding AI-assisted writing and editing directly in card descriptions and comments, as well as AI-powered capture from email and chat. AI can generate and improve text, summarize or shorten content, and extract action items, while AI-backed quick capture helps turn emails and messages into organized to-dos. Trello is offered on a Free plan for small teams, plus Standard, Premium, and Enterprise tiers that expand limits, unlock additional views, increase automation quotas, and add admin and security controls. Mobile apps and a public REST API support use across devices and custom integrations.
